Golden Ficus (Ficus benjamina)

About this plant

The Golden Ficus is a bright, cheerful form of the weeping fig (Ficus benjamina), with glossy, gently pointed leaves washed in lime-gold and splashed with green — it brings a sunny glow to a room, verandah or entrance. It grows into an elegant little tree with slender, arching branches, and can be kept on a single stem or made bushy by pinching the tips. The golden colour is richest in bright light, so give it a spot near a sunny window or on a bright verandah, sheltered from the scorching afternoon sun. Water when the top inch of soil is dry and never leave the roots sitting in water. Like every weeping fig it dislikes being moved and may drop a few leaves in a new spot — keep it steady and fresh leaves soon follow.
