About this plant
Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) is a tough, sun-loving succulent that rewards you with colour almost all year round. Its thick, thorny stems carry small clusters of bright bracts — in shades of red, pink, coral or yellow — that keep coming as long as it gets plenty of light. Give it a hot, sunny spot (six or more hours of direct sun) and water only when the top of the soil dries; like all succulents it hates soggy roots. Drought-tolerant and perfectly at home in Lahore's heat, it is ideal for a bright windowsill, balcony or patio pot. Two cautions: the stems are sharply spined, and the milky sap irritates skin and is toxic to pets if chewed — handle it with gloves and keep it out of reach.
